Areas of use include loud, dusty production environments such as those found in the heavy goods industry, chemical plants, milling operations, etc. It enables wireless communication to be established across company premises, providing flexible mobility and therefore helping to increase productivity, as well as improve safety and help save lives in emergency situations.
Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephony (DECT) is the ideal wireless solution for this environment, with a secure, voice-optimised network and its own dedicated frequency range. Interference from other radio services is therefore eliminated or minimised.
Compared with WiFi networks, DECT is easier and faster to plan and is also more readily scalable.
The Avaya DECT 3745/3749 wireless handsets have been developed specifically for harsh production environments.
These shock- and scratch-resistant telephones with backlit keypads, large displays, and liquid and dust protection provide users with quick access to telephone functions such as caller ID, hold, conference, messaging and many other features in conjunction with Avaya Aura® and Avaya IP Office™.
Integrated handsfree functionality, headset compatibility and text messaging keep employees at widely distributed production sites in contact. Calling for help via the programmable function key and optional location detection via the base station are important features that support safety in operational processes.
Communication takes place via a dedicated, encrypted wireless network. The batteries support up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 90 hours of standby time (10/80 hours for the 3749).
The 3749 DECT telephone has ATEX certification (EMEA and USA), enabling it to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres where appropriately safe devices are required (e.g. in the chemical industry or milling operations).
The integrated dead man's switch sensor with alarm functions for immobility and horizontal body position can be integrated into safety systems with high occupational safety requirements for lone working positions, e.g. in correctional facilities, psychiatric institutions, etc.
