The Alcatel-Lucent 8340 Smart IP-DECT Access Points (AP) product family provides DECT connectivity for the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise and OmniPCX Office Rich Communication Edition (RCE) Communication Server (CS), enabling cost-effective on-site mobility via IP network connectivity. In combination with compatible Alcatel-Lucent DECT handsets, the 8340 Smart IP-DECT APs provide reliable voice communication as well as full integration with the voice services of OmniPCX Enterprise (such as dial-by-name or multiline management). This enables a seamless transition of functions between Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise desk phones and on-site mobility solutions.

It is also compatible with existing 4080 IP-DECT installations.
